Jonathan Cainer provides a branch of astrology that assimilates the mystic traditions of Tibetan Buddhism with classical Western astrology. According to Cainer, human behavior is attributed to a chemical balance in the body by scientists; to childhood conditioning by psychologists; to depth of faith by religious leaders; and to planetary cycles by astrologers. But Cainer says, “The more I find out about all the conventional ways to explain human behavior, the more it strikes me that they are just a little bit too narrow and logical.” Cainer began to see such boundaries of narrow logic expand into non-existence when he discovered Tibetan Buddhism.

After nearly a quarter of a century working as a professional astrologer, Cainer happened onto a book about ancient Eastern philosophies in a bookstore in Katmandu , Nepal . This discovery opened the door to a string of events that directed him into the world of Tibetan monks and very personal experiences in a “mystical, timeless realm.”

Cainer describes enlightenment as being aware of the existence of another dimension while the mind is yet rational. He argues that all humans experience this nirvana on some level at different times in our lives. Psychologists call this a “shared subconscious.” Jonathan Cainer ascertains that it is the human soul that allows us to bend the rules that govern time, and in so doing, we create an easier transition into the “shared subconscious.” He is certain that Tibetan monks experience enlightenment more often than not, and that they are highly skilled at the art of mind over matter.

Cainer has tapped into this ancient mystical tradition and taken it into himself as a foundation to his logical, scientific empire of astrological knowledge. He understands that to escape from human limits by freeing the mind, we are freer to intermingle with all the energies of the universe. The influence of Tibetan Buddhism seems to have slipped in somewhere beneath his knowledge of astrology and lifted him into a state of weightlessness where all thought and theory blend into intuition and infinity. It is as though nirvana is riding on its own over the system of astrology.

It is from this vantage point of synergy that Cainer now makes his astrological readings and produces his horoscopes. One of Britain ’s most respected astrologers, Cainer is a major producer of daily, weekly, and monthly horoscopes for thousands, even millions of people. People are mystified and amazed by his accuracy. But perhaps it is the ancient wisdom of the monks that makes his work so purely insightful.
