Astrology Horoscopes

Astrology Horoscopes

An astrology horoscope is a brief, usually general, prediction of what you will experience in life. You can read daily, weekly, and monthly horoscopes. Horoscopes describe emotions and energies you are likely to experience based on the position of the “seven planets of antiquity”: the Sun, Moon, Jupiter, Saturn, Mars, Venus, and Mercury.

In astrology, it is believed that the energies produced by these celestial bodies at the moment you took your first breath have a lasting effect on who you are. A horoscope simply reports the continuing movement of the planets and interprets the affects into practical terms regarding modern day life activities and experiences.

Daily horoscopes are published in every avenue of the print media as well as on the Internet. Millions of people check their horoscopes daily to find out what the day will hold for them. This practice is as old as known civilization, with records dating back as far as 5000 B.C.

Horoscopes were originally designed to determine the schedules for agricultural practices. By studying the planets, astrologers were able to predict the best time to plant and harvest. This practice eventually moved into the study of the relationship between the planets and human behavior. Astrologers also discovered that not only could they predict nature’s reaction to planetary forces, but also the reaction of human nature to the movements in the sky.

A horoscope is based on the time in a calendar year in which a person is born. It is believed that in the moment of birth, human life energy enters the universe and is immediately in an interactive play with energies much grander than any contained in a single human body. Therefore, the powers of the planets are as a mold into which all the other factors in human make up – genetics, culture, social and religious environments, etc. are poured. The moment of birth, then, including geographic location, is the most significant factor in an astrological reading. For this reason, the horoscope begins with a person’s date of birth.

Some people make the argument that a horoscope is a predictor of future events. However, many astrologers and followers of astrology assert that it is not so much a predictor of the future, but is rather an understanding of the influences that the planets have on our lives. Using the date of birth as a point of origin, horoscopes describe the state of the universe at that time to lay the background to an individual’s basic set of characteristics.

Horoscopes then follow the planetary movements in order to predict the influences of planetary energies on the dynamics of a given sign. In this way, horoscopes are at once both general and specific. It is up to the reader to further interpret horoscopes to see the specific details in one’s life. The more regularly you read your horoscope, the better skilled you will become at applying astrological wisdom to your life.
